One stage regen RF amplifier + cathode follower to feed the 1942 BC221 beast (all credit to Lewis Mc Coy QST Nov. 1962). Notes:
- De DC5GD: Catastrophic this evening, miserable conditions, awful QRN and QRM. I could copy letters now and then and some call signs. I went QRT after 20 minutes.
- De F5LAW: Very nice session in spite of heavy QRN and deep QSB. Thanks to Durk - PA3BYW for running the session and to Darrel - AA7FV for listening to today's nets via webSDRs.
- De F6EEQ: Well... for me it was not a nice session!!! Very heavy atmospheric background noise (not QRN). I already had the problem in the morning in our regular QSO (3564, 8:45/9:30) noise making some kind of interference with CW and erasing the signal. At the beginning I could barely copy Durk, and absolutely no copy on John. During second round, things were better, and I could copy everyone. Before the SSN I was with Al DC5GD but signal were very weak. We had a short QSO, so I could improve my German copy, but then he sent me a SMS to say that for SSN there was too much QRM and small signals.
- De AA7FV: A very enjoyable net. It was great to hear the keying of so many friends that I have not yet been able to work. Many thanks for the greetings at the close of net.

Notes:
- De F5LAW: Short session but very good signals, solid copy in spite of contest QRM.
- De M0HTE: I switched on at about 1930 and found the band swamped by contesters and wondered if the Net would operate. Yann was calling at about 1950 but only partly heard through the QRM. The QRM cleared a space for us...

80 m: 2000 - 2129 UTC, 3566 kHz.

Notes:
- De F5LAW: Very nice session in spite of very heavy QRN and deep QSB. Some CW and SSB QRM at times. Signal from OE8GBK stronger than usual with new FD4 antenna. G4ZXN went QRT after round 1 due to heavy local noise.
- De OE8GBK: Unusual strong QRN - like an thunderstorm. But the WX was vy clear and cool (temp -1 C).
- De M0HTE: QSB made condx worse by round three so I dropped out at that point.
- De PA3BYW: Annoying QRM from "CQ Icom" station and sum SSB QRM. Watched SM- web SDR. All stations were on the waterfall up there.

Notes:
- De PA3BYW: I had a short QSO in between with Claude F6IJU fm Cluny in Burgundy, nice 599+ sigs with his 83m square sky loop. Didn't stay for the net. My rig: mcHF + KN electronics PA (kit - just finished), driving with 2W and 40W out.
- De F6EEQ: Did not participate too much on last sessions, but this one was OK: no QRM, low QSB and good signals. I think it's the first time I can copy John all the way along.
- De F5LAW: Very nice session, brand new IC-7610 TRX at F6EEQ and PA kit finished at PA3BYW, UFB!

- De PA3BYW: Tnx for the nice company this session and over the past year. Wish you all a healthy and happy 2019.
- De F5LAW: This completes this year's series of EU SSN. Thanks to all operators who took part in the net in 2018 and especially to Durk who has been doing a super NCS job. Bye bye 2018, BCNU next year gents. To all SSN stations, a very Happy and Healthy Year 2019 to you and yours.
- De OE8GBK: Heavy metal cootie key for left hand, Hi-Mound BK100 Bug for right hand. In my childhood I was converted to right-handed but the left orientation was stronger ;-)... Happy new year and HPE CUAGN.
- De ON6WJ: I enjoyed this session vy much, thank You for the company and also special thanks to the leaders & Maestro's of the cootie-band during the year 2018: Yann, F5LAW and Durk, PA3BYW. On my turn, to all here at the SSN group, my best wishes for a prosperous and healthy 2019.
