Report Tables.

Thursday, January 2, 2025.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0155 UTC, 7044.5 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: 7044.5 kHz  (7044.0 was busy.) All stations were at least 599 into AZ.  Based on the G4 (Kp=8) geomagnetic storm earlier, I had been predicting to myself that conditions would be very bad tonight.  In fact, they were superb. Thanks everyone for a great start to the New Year.  I hope the year continues well for everyone, and see you next time.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0155 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De WA4FAT: A fun Net this evening with good copy on everyone. Great to have Teri back with us now that her situation allows it. She and her Titan sounded fabulous. Also happy to learn that Roy and Jay are both OK despite the unimaginable devastation in Los Angeles County. Our prayers to all involved.
- De AA7FV: All signals were getting even stronger into Arizona as the net progressed. Thanks everyone, and good luck to the Californians surviving the fires there.
- De WA7SPY: I am sorry I was unable to respond on Thursday night’s net. My key was not responding. It is all fixed now and hope to have better luck next time.

Notes:
- De KA5TJS: Great signals and wish we had had a few more. They missed a good band.
- De AA7FV: Excellent signals into Arizona tonight, from everyone.  Some QSB, but signals were so strong that the QSB wasn't noticeable. Apologies, I had to leave the net early to join my monthly radio club meeting.
- De KT5LA: I was also listening on the Utah SDR, and signals were better OTA! Some QSB on Allen, but good signals and a very nice net.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0155 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Good signals from everyone into Arizona, although with deep QSB.  Not everyone in the net could hear everyone else.  I guess the distance from AA7FV to everyone else is just right for 40m at this time of the evening.
- De KT5LA: I am reporting from Quartzfest, the Amateur Radio/motorhome gathering just south of Quartzsite Arizona. It’s a weeklong event, but I only arrived on Wednesday. I will be leaving Saturday, after the closing ceremonies (and raffle!). All of these reports improved on the second round, the band seemed to really improve during the net.
- De W1SFR: Well, I'll be back on the NCS list, and although I haven't been able to copy Jay or Roy too well in the past, I could actually copy them last night albeit using all my QRP listening tricks to do it.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0155 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: At the start of the net strong QRM came up on our usual frequency, so NCS announced an immediate QSY  to 7044.5 kHz.
- De KO4WFP: Sorry I was late to the net. There was QRM at the beginning and I couldn't hear what was going on. I didn't realize you would move half a kilohertz up and kept looking up and down in increments of 1 hertz instead. By the time I found the net, you were already well into the first round and I didn't see a place to break in and participate... Here are the RSTs I heard.
- De WX7V: I did listen in on the Thursday SSN - FB signals from all ranging from 539 to 589.  I wasn't able to join but enjoyed hearing you all and then reading the email follow ups.

Thursday, February 20, 2025.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0155 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De WA4FAT: Another excellent Net tonight where most everyone could hear each other. Glad the left coast stations could join us after being absent last week.
- De AA7FV: Apologies, I had to leave early to join my local club meeting.
- De KT5LA: A very pleasant net, with the added QSY contribution from Bill's cat. On my home station, Bill suddenly disappeared (I had a 100hz filter on the FT991), and his frequency changed on the SDR. Having bumped the dial many times with my wrist, I assumed the same. Bill credited his cat. Excellent signals tonight from all stations. I could copy most of the net over-the-air and kept the Utah SDR with the omni antenna mostly on muted standby. 40 meters has been pretty nice here of late.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0155 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De W1SFR: Well, QRN and QSB got the better of me tonight, but I could hear most although all were quite choppy even though signals were decent.
- De WA4FAT: I appear to be located in a 'sweet spot' propagation-wise for the SSN as I typically hear everyone quite well. That said, I also have the Northern Utah SDR available when needed.
- De KT5LA: Good copy on all stations on the Northern Urah SDR with the East pointing beam (the purple site). I was listening there to most of the net, but could hear most stations OTA. Vermont is very hard for me here...

Thursday, March 6, 2025.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0155 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: A superb net.  Conditions were excellent, although Jay in CA relied on the SDR as a backup.
- De KT5LA: Signals improved during the net. I was hearing all stations OTA, though for Teri and Steve, I could just tell a station was there. Used the CA SDR as a backup and copied everyone just fine.
- De KO4WFP: Hearing how the signals fluctuate over the course of the net is educational. It is also interesting how noisy the band has been this week, not only for this net but the other nets and code buddy QSOs in which I participate. The more time one spends on the air, the more one learns!

40 m: Friday, 0000 - 0025 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De WA4FAT: I suspected the west coast stations would be hard pressed to make it to Alabama way before their sunset and that was the case. In fact, I had no copy on either Roy or Jay on the Northern Utah SDR either. Otherwise it was an excellent session on 40. We then moved to our alternate 30 Meter frequency of 10121.50 kHz.
- De KA5TJS: No copy on the west coast here also. Darrel did a good job QSP as usual.
- De AA7FV: Unlike most stations, I had excellent copy on everyone this evening on both bands.  40m was as good as 30m.  Southern Arizona must be very favorably located at this time of evening for tonight's net participants.

- De KO4WFP: I agree that the signals were better on 30 meters AND less noise on that band. I'm not sure if it was just the band or my location that resulted in so much noise here. However, it was delightful to listen to the net in the moonlight. I checked into the OMIK net the previous night - two nets QRP in one week. What a rush! 5 watts and a wire can be amazing.

30 m: Friday, 0000 - 0055 UTC, 10121.5 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Antenna: The rhombic, beaming NE from southern Arizona, but with occasional help from the receive-only 4-ft vertical. Perfect copy on everyone throughout the net.  There was occasional QRM (some sort of telemetry) but I found by switching from the rhombic to the 4-ft active vertical, the QRM went down more than everyone's signal, so I don't think I missed anything.
- De KO4WFP: I had digital QRM on this end off and on during the net. Frustrating at times but I copied what I could.
- De W1SFR: Rats! Lost everyone to QRM.
- De KA5TJS: Thought we were digi central last night, HI HI.. QRM was not killing copy but a pain.

Notes:
- De KA5TJS: Boy a great bunch of ops tonight. Welcome to Lloyd and Rick for sure. Never expected this turn out. Thanks for the QSP's Bill.
- De AA7FV: Apologies, I had to QRT after the first round to get to my monthly radio club meeting.
- De KO4WFP: It was great to see our CA stations joining in again.
- De WA4FAT: Excellent SSN this evening, despite less than optimal band conditions, and an excellent turnout.

30 m: Friday, 0000 - 0055 UTC, 10121.5 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Good signals into AZ from everyone, with excellent copy on everyone.  Low QRN levels tonight.
- De KO4WFP: Everyone had QSB except for Bill and Allen. I lost 5 minutes of the net due to horrible QRM that appeared out of nowhere. Not sure what caused it but thankfully it went away.
- De K6GVG: Rig the usual 90-95 watts to a quasi-stealth, Hustler mobile antenna clamped to the metal railing on the balcony of a high-rise condo.  Am facing the ocean, so the RF struggles to get through all the steel and concrete in this building.   Hence, I always appreciate the listening skills of those folks “back east” (anything east of the Sierra Nevada Mountains).  And, in particular, thanks again, and again, to Darrel (AA7FV) for his countless relays for me.
- De AI5BE: S9+ noise floor here tonight and could not make out any signals. The only station I could make out was WA4FAT.

30 m: Friday, 0000 - 0055 UTC, 10130 kHz.

Notes:
- De KO4WFP: Maybe next time will be smoother and less "fiery". As Bill said, the cndx couldn't get much worse.
- De KA5TJS: You did a great job under real bad conditions Teri!! Worst QRM I have seen on this net for sure. I cut out after round one.
- De AA7FV: Teri did have a real trial by fire for her first NCS session.  The OHR seemed to be centered on 10121.5 kHz, but spreading over about 15 kHz.    I've not heard any radar this bad on 30m before.  It took me back to the days of the "Woodpecker" in the late 1970s. Our final frequency, 10130.0 kHz, was clear of the QRM.
- De KT5LA: I did not actually hear the over-the-horizon radar from home, but it sure was loud on the Utah SDR I was using! It spanned from 10.107 to 10.127 mhz. Good call QSY, Teri and nice job as NCS. I could hear you fine on the SDR, including your QSY instruction. I could hear all stations on the Utah SDR.
- De AI5BE: I think I just lost you guys to QSB…. I’m no longer hearing anyone.
- De WA4FAT: If anyone attempted to QSP for me, I didn't hear it, sorry. That Over The Horizon RADAR signal was amazing. S9 here and 20 kHz wide. It ended, by the way, at 0025Z. What a night for a first-time Net Control to take the reins. From what I could hear, Teri did a remarkable job - congratulations! That OHR was a solid S9 here in Alabama last night, and almost exactly 20 kHz wide. It began prior to the Net (I didn't make note of the exact time, but did mark its QRT at 0025Z. Here's what it sounded like here.
- De WX7V: The OTH signal was s9+ here in Dallas too.

30 m: Friday, 0000 - 0055 UTC, 10121.5 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Very high QRN here tonight, from lightning somewhere in Arizona.  It set a threshold of about S7 on readability.  Anything S7 or stronger was perfectly readable, but anything S6 or weaker became difficult because of the lightning QRN. There was another station calling at check-in, but too weak for me to copy under the lightning QRN and I didn't copy any QSPs.  Apologies to that station.
- De WA4FAT: Good copy on all stations over the air. No need for the SDR, although I had it at the ready. We missed one at the beginning, maybe a 1 station but too weak to pull out here, sorry.

Notes:
- De WA4FAT: What a fun Net tonight - thanks to all for joining in. Excellent conditions for a change and good signals all the way around.
- De KT5LA: I believe I doubled with Darrel in that second round. Sorry about that. When I use the SDR as a receive assist, I lose the ability to QSK. Stations heard "nil" were pretty good copy on the SDR.
- De AA7FV: Heavy lightning QRN tonight, although not so bad as last week. QSB was quite deep on most stations.
- De AI5BE: It was nice being able to copy people for a change, especially nice having NCS blow my speakers up with such a strong sig. I hope band CX stay this good for the nets.
- De KI5ZND: Unavailable.

30 m: Friday, 0000 - 0055 UTC, 10121.5 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Conditions tonight were about as bad as I can remember for a Thursday SSN, at least as heard in AZ.  QSB, QRN and QRM. I heard Bill and Roy in QSO immediately after the net, and both were now 589 or better.  Conditions were rapidly improving. It turns out that a significant solar X-ray flare started right before our net, triggering an R3-level radio blackout.
- De WA4FAT: Heavy, deep QSB on all signals with the west coast improving at the end of our session.
- De KI5ZND, KT5LA: Unavailable.

Thursday, June 26, 2025.

30 m: Friday, 0000 - 0055 UTC, 10130 kHz.

Notes:
- De W1SFR: Oh boy...that damn noise is beginning to really drive me crazy. Used to love 30m cuz it was usually much quieter for me than 40. Is there any way to figure out where that noise is coming from? Well, good most of you found me on 10130!
- De KO4WFP: There is a radar-like noise on the band from 10.106 to 10.127.5. Great to hear from everyone. More pesky radar tonight - It obliterated your signal here in GA, Steve, so thank you for posting to email your plan. I agree with Bill that if this QRM continues, 10.130 may be a good new home for us.
- De WA4FAT: 10121.50 had that pesky OTR (Over the Horizon) RADAR again tonight, so I'm grateful Steve picked a clean spot. That might be a frequent new location for the SSN if 10121.50 continues to be problematic at Net time. Great copy on all for me tonight with most everyone literally rattling my old National speaker.
- De AA7FV: 10121.5 kHz, with QSY at 0010 UTC to 10130 kHz. Tonight was a complicated night.  At 23:52 UTC Teri reported by email radar QRM frequency covering our usual 10121.5 kHz frequency, but it only affected the eastern USA.  In Arizona, I heard nothing of the radar, although lightning QRN was strong.    At 0000 UTC many of us gathered on 10121.5 kHz, but nothing was heard there of the designated NCS Steve, W1SFR. In the apparent absence of the scheduled NCS, after a few minutes Bill WA4FAT agreed to take over as NCS, and called for and obtained several check-ins on 10121.5 kHz. At 00:10 UTC I noticed that the designated NCS, W1SFR had already sent an email timed at 00:00 UTC, notifying everyone that the net was to move to 10130 kHz to avoid the QRM.  I passed the email info to the stand-in NCS, WA4FAT who announced the QSY to all check-ins on 10121.5 kHz. Those of us already on 10121.5 kHz then made a QSY to 10130 kHz, and checked in with the real NCS, W1SFR.  Impressively, we didn't lose any check-ins at the QSY.  The net then proceeded as normal, albeit with rather poor conditions.
Geomagnetic Kp index: Peak activity into G1 storm levels right at the time of our SSN. How did the magnetic field know it was time to start a storm, so perfectly in time for our net?
- De KA5TJS: Well I missed the frequency and called on 10.120 and got nil. Saw a signal on 123 and got TJ K9TJL 599.Had short QSO and Mike AC5P called 599. Better luck next week.
- De WX7V: FB Signals on both 10.121.5 and 10.130 hi hi. I did see cw traffic on the bandscope at 10.121.5 after our QSY, Maybe TJ?

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Conditions tonight were excellent, quite the opposite of the 2 last weeks. No QSY to avoid QRM, radar or otherwise, was necessary.
- De WA4FAT: Terrific signals and superlative conditions, especially compared to the past few Nets. I should be so lucky when I NCS next week.
- De WX7V: OCF Dipole for Tx,  W6LVP Magnetic Loop Antenna for RX on the Flex6400 Rig.
- De KO4WFP: It seems the band got the memo because we had great signals tonight on 30 meters! Here are the RSTs from coastal Georgia.
- De AI5BE: Noise floor was pretty high, hard to make out a lot, but always glad to be here.
