EU 80 m Net.
Section under development.
To move to a net archive page, use the list boxes in the upper-right corner. Select year, net and click on the "Go" button.
NB: Pre-2012 net data are not processed. The Region 3 Net started on February 5, 2017 and ended in 2020.
The following graph and tables provide an overview of the variations in the level of activity for this net and give a general idea of the HF conditions met during the sessions.
-
QNI Graph.
In each month column of this bar graph, the number of participants, Net Control Station (NCS) and participating stations (QNI's), is shown:
- Per week: first week at bottom of column up to fourth/fifth week of the month;
- Per month: red on white background on top of column.
The bottom row in the table shows:
- Total number of sessions;
- Total number of participants;
- Average number of participants per session.
Click on a month name at the top of the graph to jump to the "QNI table" listing all participants per session.
-
QNI Table.
This table lists all net participants per month, week and session. NCS's are marked with "*". "Visitors" are not listed unless they took part in a session. Click on a day date in red to jump to the corresponding report table(s) if available.
-
Report Tables.
These tables compile reception reports received from net participants or listeners (SWL's). NCS's are marked with "*". Each row of a table recapitulates the reports given to the participants by the station listed in the "De" column. Call signs in italics on a different background color in "De" columns indicate reception reports. Reports expressed in decibels, +10dB for instance, must be understood as values over S9.

Report Tables.
Sunday, January 5, 2020.
80 m: 2000 - 2100 UTC, 3566 kHz.
Notes:
- De PA3BYW: Heard vy faint signals in the background. But couldn't detect any C/S. Sorry I've missed Uli DL2KHU, Martin G4ZXN and perhaps other stations. 73/HNY.
- De F5LAW: Absolutely NIL from NCS at first, I couldn't QNI. Thanks to Giulio - IK2DED who checked in and QSPed my call to NCS, we made it at last. Heard very weak signal from Uli - DL2KHU at very end. First session of 2020, let's hope for better conditions next time... A Happy and Healthy Year 2020 to you and yours friends.
- De DL2KHU: no short skip this evening. I heard RA3PMW, F5LAS and IK2DED in QSO with Durk, PA3BYW, but I could not copy Durk. Also I heard F5LAW, Yann sometimes with a very week signal. At the end of the session I tried to check in but my sigs were too week in PA.
- De G4ZXN: Yes strange conditions, I did hear F5LAS and also Giulio IK2DED, but no one else...

Notes:
- De PA3BYW: 3566 kHz occupied, QSY to 3567 kHz. Enjoyed the session. Great QNI list!
- De F5LAW: Super session with excellent conditions, all signals gradually improveing. Glad Jan - ON4ASZ checked in again at very end, good QRP signal.
- De DL2KHU: A nice session. Vy pleased to work Giulio the first time.
- De DC5GD: What a pleasure to hear you after such a long abstinence! (And I will not be on air next Sunday - shame on me!) Good condx this time, even copied G0IIK, Nigel!!

Sunday, January 26, 2020.
80 m: 2000 - 2113 UTC, 3566 kHz.
Notes:
- De F5LAW: Extremely unsettled conditions and heavy QRN here, poor path to PA. What a difference with last Sunday's excellent conditions and great QNI list.
- De DC5GD: what a mess this time. Band and condx were most terrible I ever had. All stns were nil several times. Some signs or even some words like standing side by side and next moment nothing but "shhhhhh" from the loudspeaker. This was not QSB but QSBBB. Anyway it was a pleasure to hear Durk playing his new, homemade key like David Garrett his Stradivari. Really a wonderful clear sound, cher ami Durk.
- De M0HTE: I came up last night and heard Durk briefly 559 then faded to about 229. Nil heard from anyone else on the net. I put in a couple of calls but don't think I was heard. Moving down the band I heard a DL station calling at S9 but he couldn't hear me. Checked my aerial this morning and it was still up!

Notes:
- De DC5GD: Good session this time despite QRM all the time and QSB during last minutes. Had to leave after more than 1 hour of beautiful cootie sound of NCS and 7 ops. Best session this year! What a mess this time.
- De F5LAW: Great session but some very annoying QRM: digital mode, SSB, AM or FM?, CW beacon in background...

Notes:
- De F5LAW: Ciara was a very impressive storm, strong wind at 115 kph here + violent gusts. Band was noisy with weak signals, I was wondering if my G5RV was still up... NIL from ON4ADI (QSP de DC5GD/P) and lost both DC5GD/P and G4ZXN in QSB. Been calling CQ SSN till 2035Z but most regulars were unavailable due to storm.
- De DC5GD: only heard Yann in first round, than some poor code from Martin but got the QRA. Some minutes before had contact to ON4ADI, Paul. Sig vy weak but we could exchange greetings and RST. Left after abt. 30 minutes of absolute silence and nobody responding to my calls.
- De M0HTE: Nothing heard on SSN this evening. Storms here today but the antenna stayed up!

Many tu's an ee's at end of the session at about 2210 local time here. Thanks for good wishes my frds, was very glad to hear my QRA several times during the session.

- De ON6WJ: in AGC mode (even with fast decay etc..) due the severe static pulses, the average amplified RF signal is bent towards the noise floor and most of the station's information is hidden or lost into the QRM marmalade. With extra 20dB RF attenuation, I switched OFF the AGC and went into "MGC" mode (manual gain control hi) but in this position the S meter needle does not follow anymore the signal amplitude... Notes:
- De F5LAW: Nice session after the initial confusion (see notes below). I shifted back to 3566 kHz at 1910 UTC.
- De PA3BYW: Confusing start. A station from Hamburg was calling on 3566 so Uli DL2KHU replied and tried to clear QRG for SSN. Al, DC5GD also tried to QNI but had to much QRN. I started a short QSO with Uli to keep QRG clear. In the meantime Yann F5LAW had a QSO with Arthur, SP3CW on 3565. We all ended on 3566 kHz and net started with some delay. HI.
- De DL2KHU: yes, an interesting start. The station from Hamburg was Egon DK6XM, who joined the EU-Net on 6. September. So I thought, that he agn wanted to join the net. But because of deep QSB he did not recognize my call and my note, that the SSN will begin soon. Then Al DC5GD called CQ SSN with RST 589 but also did not hear us because of strong QRN and QSB. Then here he faded away in deep QSB. Overall strong sigs, rising at the end of the session, but QRN and deep QSB.
- De DC5GD: Seems things are different and depending on QTH: From my side the session was a catastrophe with everything: QRM, QRN and QSBBB (S-meter jojoing from 2 till 9 plus 30 dB all the time). No detailed rapports possible due to me hearing only single dits and dahs, sometimes a letter or two but never even parts of a communication. I gave up after 1/2 an hour listening and tuning between 3,565 and 3,567 MHz for a while. Please note: Even SDRs Eschende and Ravensburg showed no sigs.

Notes:
- De PA3BYW: Shifted net abt 400 Hz up because strong 599 test terror on usual QRG.
- De F5LAW: Gave it a try but local noise is definitely too high. Heard Durk and Jos both 589 but QSB and noise got them both. Gave up at 2015 UTC.
- De DC5GD: There was a contest running and all I heard was "call sign - 599". What a mess! (...) BTW: I was using the home brew cootie from Durk, not my Junker as usual. I train the cootie hard and forget about the el bug following the advice of Uli. Indeed the millisec timing a el bug is requiring is stressing. With the cootie I am doing well except when I start thinking in dashes and dots. Then my sending ends up in a mess and I switch back to the Junker immediately.
- De DL2KHU: vy crowded contest band. I found Durk a few minutes after 20.00 UTC with a vy weak signal between strong contest stations and with deep QSB. First I only wanted to give a short report but then I stayed. I can say, that I heard Durk, Yann and Jos. I'm not sure, that I heard Al or John when Durk was calling them.
- De ON6WJ: Really fun to play with RF gain potmeter all the time (CW listening is without any AGC here).
- De M0HTE: All with QSB, I put out a couple of calls but don't think anyone heard me. Jos is usually very loud but poor condx last night.

Notes:
- De F5LAW: Very unsettled conditions, QSB + local noise got most stations after first round. Copying both Dutch stations all the way till QNF.
- De ON6WJ: Condx went down during second round. Strongest stn is Bob ,PA5V with max 579, followed by John M0HTE all the way 559... All other signals dropped below understandable levels, very strange!

Notes:
- De PA3BYW: Welcome dr Jon, G0FJT. Excellent sigs wid ur indoor wire loop. Chapeau outstanding cootie CW on the TWanger. Have a nice week. Merry Xmas all!
- De F5LAW: Very nice session under the baguette of Maestro Durk. A very warm welcome to John - G0FJT and great to have Colin - G3VTT back with us. High noise level here so QSX to F6BIR's webSDR from time to time via remote unit, M0HTE and DC5GD QRK 5. A very merry Xmas to you and yours friends, take care.
- De DC5GD: I was vy happy to cpi the 2 GB stations. I have rarely had this opportunity. I got lost after 1st round by a vy strong stn sending at our QRG + 1 kHz. First my filters were able to eliminate most of the signal but then he turned the beam into my direction I guess. (...) I could not cpi anymore after 2045 UTC and went QRT. Frustrating because I hoped to have a chat with Martin and John: These OPs I really heard rarely.
- De DL2KHU: Gld to meet G0FJT Jon the first time.

Notes:
- De PA3BYW: Happy and healthy New Year all!
- De DL2KHU: A bumpy start but then the conditions gradually improved. When checking in I heard only Durk PA3BYW but the sigs did not move my S-meter that shows S6 from the (local?) QRM. Rough cpi. Weak sigs from Jos ON6WJ through the QRM. Nil from other stations. Then the fog cleared. Local QRM went down to S4 and also the sigs became stronger. Yann was rising from nil to S9 and John to S5 in rnd 3.
- De F5LAW: Last EU SSN of 2020. Very rough or no copy at all via direct due to local noise level, switched to GB3WB webSDR in Weston-Super-Mare: Conditions improved during round 3, was able to copy most stations via direct but lost John via webSDR as skip changed. A very Happy and Healthy Year 2021 to you and yours fellows. Thanks to Durk for the super NCS job again this year and thanks all for your company, BCNU next year!
