Intercontinental Net.
Section under development.
To move to a net archive page, use the list boxes in the upper-right corner. Select year, net and click on the "Go" button.
NB: Pre-2012 net data are not processed. The Region 3 Net started on February 5, 2017 and ended in 2020.
The following graph and tables provide an overview of the variations in the level of activity for this net and give a general idea of the HF conditions met during the sessions.
-
QNI Graph.
In each month column of this bar graph, the number of participants, Net Control Station (NCS) and participating stations (QNI's), is shown:
- Per week: first week at bottom of column up to fourth/fifth week of the month;
- Per month: red on white background on top of column.
The bottom row in the table shows:
- Total number of sessions;
- Total number of participants;
- Average number of participants per session.
Click on a month name at the top of the graph to jump to the "QNI table" listing all participants per session.
-
QNI Table.
This table lists all net participants per month, week and session. NCS's are marked with "*". "Visitors" are not listed unless they took part in a session. Click on a day date in red to jump to the corresponding report table(s) if available.
-
Report Tables.
These tables compile reception reports received from net participants or listeners (SWL's). NCS's are marked with "*". Each row of a table recapitulates the reports given to the participants by the station listed in the "De" column. Call signs in italics on a different background color in "De" columns indicate reception reports. Reports expressed in decibels, +10dB for instance, must be understood as values over S9.

Report Tables.
Sunday, January 7, 2018.
20 m: 1500 - 1530 UTC, 14055 kHz.
Notes:
- De AA7FV: 95 W at first, then QRO to kW. Another 3 or more dB s/n on the intercontinental signals would make a big difference! Conditions for this first intercontinental net of 2018 were not great. Hopefully things will improve later in the year. All the best for 2018 to everyone.
- De F5LAW: HNY to all, let's hope for better conditions in 2018.
- De KA5TJS: AA7FV Nil to 599 at the end. Signals very low but Darrel came up nicely. TNX and CUL.

17 m: 1604 - 1636 UTC, 18088 kHz.
Notes:
- De CN8YR: 1600 - 1603 UTC 21055 kHz: Nil sigs. 17m: Yann and me heard K3CKT Jim and AA7FV Darrel calling SSN from time to time. I lost Yann completely around 1630z. Jim and Darrel signed off at 1636z.
- De F5LAW: 1600 - 1605 UTC, 21055 kHz: NIL. 17m: Good path to CN but Completely lost NCS' signals at 1618Z. Signals back at 1629Z, then QSB, NIL again. NIL from USA here at end.
- De AA7FV: 1600 UTC, 21055 kHz, nothing heard. 17m: I briefly heard another "CQ SSN" under Jim at 1615 UTC (de F5LAW: that was me, sorry, I had lost all signals), but it disappeared in QSB. After signing with Jim at 1635 UTC I heard Med's call clearly, before it disappeared again into the QSB. I tried calling Med, but he couldn't hear me.

20 m: 1500 - 1555 UTC, 14055 kHz.
Notes:
- De KA5TJS: It was ruff but glad to hear you guys. I could not hear TJ at all and only pulled out about 50% on Yann. Jim started to drop out toward the end.
- De F5LAW: QRM 5 at first on 14055 kHz, but heard K3CKT calling, checked in. Checked alt QRG and heard AA7FV and K9TJL, QSPed net on 14055 kHz, QSY back to regular QRG.
- De AA7FV: 1500 UTC. Contest QRM on 14055 kHz, so listened on 14349 kHz, and found TJ (1502 UTC). Yann came up to tell us that Jim and Allen were in QSO on 14055 kHz. So, QSY: 1515 UTC 14055 kHz.

- De F5LAW: 1600 - 1604 UTC, 21055 kHz: NIL. 17m: Good path to NCS, no other stations heard.
- De AA7FV: 1600 UTC, 21055 kHz: Nothing heard. 1610 UTC, 18088 kHz: Heard K3CKT and CN8YR, both equally weak, both calling CQ SSN, but not hearing each other at all. Med was in QSO with F5LAW, but I couldn't hear Yann at all. I tried calling both K3CKT and CN8YR, but neither could hear me, even with QRO. Surely conditions MUST get better soon?

20 m: 1500 - 1544 UTC, 14055 kHz.
Notes:
- De F5LAW: Unusually poor paths intra USA on 20m, crazy conditions.
- De AA7FV: Yann was the only station I could copy well. Exceptionally poor conditions today, but Yann was a good signal in AZ on 20m, doing a great NCS job with all the QSPs.
- De KA5TJS: AA7FV: Very weak this morning, very unusual. K3CKT: Good copy all the way thru. F5LAW Weak but band was quiet. 95% copy.
- De G4CPA: Nothing hrd in Yorkshire, except an EA stn calling for FISTS contacts on 14.055 and nearby contest stns. Condx were bad to say the least, dead on 21 & 18 MHz also!

Notes:
- De AA7FV: 95 watts at first, then at end of 20m net QRO to kW. 1500 UTC: QRM on 14055 kHz, so QSY to 14055.5 kHz... I heard K3CKT already in QSO with KA5TJS on 14055, so with Yann we QSY back to 14055 kHz. I did not hear G4CPA after our QSY.
- De F5LAW: 1500 UTC: 14055 kHz QRM 5. AA7FV took NCS on 14055.5 kHz till 1523Z, then back to 14055 kHz with K3CKT and KA5TJS. AA7FV had to QSP most transmissions.
- De KA5TJS: Well I did not hear anything when I came on freq. so made a call and heard Jim. We had a good QSO and then we made a couple of calls. I heard a signal above us and went up .50 and heard Darrel talking to someone. I went back down so Jim did not think he lost me to tell him about Darrel and then he joined us. - De K9TJL: F5LAW, just a Tweet. Copied a Letter now and then with heavy/deep QSB. Nice to hear Jim, K3CKT working his station piercing thru the deep QSB.
- De G4CPA: Condx very poor once again + contest rubbish everywhere. I tried QNI but no one heard me. I listen every week awaiting condx to improve HI!

- De N1EA: I heard Med - CN8YR at 1608Z but only by cheating and listening by the SDR at the University of Twente, Netherlands. Sadly conditions must be terrible, you were 339 there where usually you'd be 579 to 599 plus depending on conditions.

Nothing heard on 14 MHz. At 1500 UTC, I checked 14055 kHz. A contest was in progress on and around the frequency, although all signals were very weak. 1600 to 1615 UTC, 21055 kHz and 18088 kHz. No signals, SSN or otherwise, heard on either band this morning. It can't get any worse than this.
I was curious as to why conditions today were quite so bad: G3 (Strong) Geomagnetic Storm Levels Observed.; Strong G3 geomagnetic storm.; For reference: What is a Geomagnetic Storm?. I guess that was the problem with today's SSN Intercontinental Net. "A big surprise for everyone which goes to show how unpredictable space weather is."

- De AA7FV: Started with 95 watts, then QRO to kW. I put out some CQ SSN calls, but was called by several non-SSN stations. So far as I know, only Yann, Craig and Carl were using Sideswipers. Conditions were fairly good, but few real SSN stations. The many stations made things a bit hectic this morning. 1600 - 1610 UTC: I listened on 15m and 17m, but nothing heard until: 1613 UTC 18088 kHz, I briefly heard (I think) F5LAW calling CQ SSN, RST 229, before disappearing into the noise. I didn't try replying.
- De F5LAW: Conditions better than expected on 20m, at least good path to AZ, nice surprise. 1600 - 1602 UTC, 21055 kHz: Put out a few CQ SSN. NIL, band dead. 1602 - 1615 UTC, 18088 kHz: QRG QRL with a station from East coast of USA, FB signals, 1607Z put out a few CQ SSN. NIL.

I switched to QRO after Steve had joined the net. 1600 UTC. Nothing heard on 21055 kHz. 18088 kHz. Two weak stations heard, both too weak to copy. The first station was RST 119, but I could barely detect it and no characters were copied. A second station came up, 20 Hz different in frequency, also at RST 119. I did just copy a "CQ SSN" on one QSB peak, but nothing else. I'm guessing one of the stations may have been CN8YR, but no calls were copied. By 16:20 UTC, both weak stations had faded below the noise level, and I gave up.
