Intercontinental Net.
Section under development.
To move to a net archive page, use the list boxes in the upper-right corner. Select year, net and click on the "Go" button.
NB: Pre-2012 net data are not processed. The Region 3 Net started on February 5, 2017 and ended in 2020.
The following graph and tables provide an overview of the variations in the level of activity for this net and give a general idea of the HF conditions met during the sessions.
-
QNI Graph.
In each month column of this bar graph, the number of participants, Net Control Station (NCS) and participating stations (QNI's), is shown:
- Per week: first week at bottom of column up to fourth/fifth week of the month;
- Per month: red on white background on top of column.
The bottom row in the table shows:
- Total number of sessions;
- Total number of participants;
- Average number of participants per session.
Click on a month name at the top of the graph to jump to the "QNI table" listing all participants per session.
-
QNI Table.
This table lists all net participants per month, week and session. NCS's are marked with "*". "Visitors" are not listed unless they took part in a session. Click on a day date in red to jump to the corresponding report table(s) if available.
-
Report Tables.
These tables compile reception reports received from net participants or listeners (SWL's). NCS's are marked with "*". Each row of a table recapitulates the reports given to the participants by the station listed in the "De" column. Call signs in italics on a different background color in "De" columns indicate reception reports. Reports expressed in decibels, +10dB for instance, must be understood as values over S9.

Report Tables.
Sunday, January 3, 2021.
20 m: 1500 - 1540 UTC, 14055 kHz.
Notes:
- De AA7FV: The echo on Yann and Geoff was making copy more difficult than it should have been. After QNF: PE1FJN, W1SFR.
- De F5LAW: Nice start for 2021 but high local noise level here, particularly on 17m. On 20m, echo on NCS stronger at end. A Happy and Healthy Year 2021 to you and yours guys.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: On both 20m and 17m I had a relatively high noise level (S2 to S3) today. Normally my background noise level is down at S1 or less. I don't know if the noise today was man-made or natural. Thanks everyone for a great first net of 2021. I wish a very Happy New Year to all.
- De F5LAW: Heard NCS calling me but very weak signal in the noise. I replied but was unheard so didn't stay.
- De CN8YR: Unavailable, Happy New Year.

Sunday, January 24, 2021.
20 m: 1500 - 1529 UTC, 14055 kHz.
Notes:
- De AA7FV:
It had been raining, so my rhombic tuning had changed, and was changing during the sideswiper net. There are about 140 spacers on the ladder line leading from the shack to the antenna, and I suspect they were all damp, but gradually drying out. Because of the changing SWR, I didn't use the amplifier at all today. This made for some contortions in the shack. I operate the sideswiper key with my left hand, and the rig with my right hand. The antenna tuner (a Palstar) is to the left of the key. While operating the key with my left hand, I was simultaneously reaching over with my right hand to adjust the antenna tuner on the far left. Fortunately it rarely rains in Arizona, so this isn't usually an issue.
- De K9TJL: All stations intercepted and recorded Via K3FEF Web sdr site.
- De F5LAW: Nice 20m session. I won't try 17m, good conditions (W, ZS etc.) but awful local noise.
- De G4CPA: There was some deliberate QRM, rapid dots from bug? Also French stn on QRG, he asked QRL at first , I sent yes then he began messing about with dits n dahs ...

Notes:
- De CN8YR: No direct copy today. Heard K9TJL & AA7FV via Web Sdr. Some exchanges wid TJ. I was testing a 2x15 m dipole (~ 2 halfwaves on 17m) beaming 10° N. So one of the 4 lobes is beaming 280° N toward Mexico.
- De AA7FV: 1540 UTC 18088 I had heard K9TJL on the frequency, but only RST 439. I didn't call. 1550 UTC, 18088 kHz, worked IT9MSB (on the rhombic) while waiting for Med. Not SSN. 1600 UTC listened on 21055 kHz.. Nothing heard.

- De K9TJL: Med, yes confirm your websdr, also heard you after search of different sdr, best at K3FEF.
- De F5LAW: 15m: Nothing. 17m: less local noise but could just hear very faint signal on 18088 kHz. Too bad because excellent path to USA with signals up to 599.

Worst conditions so far this year. 1540 - 1600 UTC 18088 kHz: Heard K9TJL calling, but only RST 329. By 1600 UTC down to RST 119. Another QSO already in progress on the frequency came up from the QSB.

20 m: 1500 - 1528 UTC, 14349 kHz.
Notes:
- De AA7FV: The unthinkable happened last night (March 12). It snowed in Tucson! The weight of snow and ice on the antenna wire brought my rhombic antenna down. Most of the lines you can see in the picture above are guy ropes or halyards, but the antenna wire itself is now firmly tangled in the tops of several mesquite trees. You can see the fiber pole bending under the strain.
A progress report (March 13): I've managed to restore one half of the rhombic, and the bent pole is now back vertical. The other half of the antenna is still tangled in the tentacles and grappling hooks of 7 different mesquite trees along the length of the wire. I've given up for today, but will continue tomorrow. I do intend to take part in the International SSN tomorrow, by loading up one half of the rhombic. With luck, it may only be about 6 dB or so weaker than the full antenna.
14349 kHz (WES contest QRM on 14055). Half-rhombic antenna (other half in the trees). kW. Very poor conditions to Europe today. Geomagnetic A index 17, which is always a bad sign.

- De AA7FV: Very good participation, but conditions need to get better by just a few dB.
I mentioned in the SSN this morning that we'd been invaded by a plague of frogs. Actually it's toads, not frogs - my mistake. We think these toads probably came into the house through the flap of our dog door, which the dog can push open herself when she wants to go out into the yard or come back into the house. They are tiny toads, as you can see in the picture above - perhaps 15 mm long. As I mentioned in the net, last night we caught ten of them hopping around the house, but we know there must be more still hiding around the house. So far as I know, none of them have yet made it into the shack.

20 m: 1500 - 1534 UTC, 14349 kHz.
Notes:
- De AA7FV: 14349 kHz. (Contest QRM on 14055.) A great 20m net into Arizona.
- De N2ZUT: Good to be back. Enjoyable net this morning.
- De DL2KHU: In rnd 1 little problems with the TRX. It sometimes unwanted switched back to RX while sending. After tuning the ant it works.
- De G4CPA: I did briefly hear Jim N2ZUT. In the deep QSB, SRY had to go QRT.

- De N1EA: K9TJL called me but my friend, Med, CN8YR could not hear me. But it was nice to at least be heard.

20 m: 1500 - 1540 UTC, 14055 kHz.
Notes:
- De AA7FV: I also heard I5CTE call, but I didn't have time to acknowledge him.
- De N2ZUT: Apologies in advance. Just spent the last two hours clearing ice and snow. If my fist sounds like it's encased in a cement block, it's because it is. Ok, charging myself a $5 fine for whining. Season's Greetings to all and look forward to working with y'all after the holidays!
- De F5LAW: Conditions somewhat unstable on both bands but nice sessions. A Happy and Peaceful Xmas to all!
- De G4CPA: Strange condx today. I had a high noise level, plus an echo on the sigs gathered momentum as we progressed! Occasional QRM from contesters ! Merry Christmas to you all , es H N Y , 73.
- De KA5TJS: Well I was down the band in a QSO and got in late but not as late as Steve HI HI.
- De K9TJL: Recording via Utah webSDR. I was receiving 3 sigs at once. 1. My Receiver; 2. SDR/ Along with the 3rd sig or Tail of the sender's Transmitter. Now you know why I pop in/out of the net. MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL SWIPERS.
- De W1SFR: Sorry for the late check in folks. Lots of snow here last night. We got 10" of the white stuff.

Hey ho! Snow on gnd today 5c leaden skies. Tnx fer NCS Darrel, hpe condx improve for next year! Wishing all participants a very happy healthy and prosperous new year!
