Net Archives 2017.
US 40 m (80/30 m) Net.
Section under development.
To move to a net archive page, use the list boxes in the upper-right corner. Select year, net and click on the "Go" button.
NB: Pre-2012 net data are not processed. The Region 3 Net started on February 5, 2017 and ended in 2020.
The following graph and tables provide an overview of the variations in the level of activity for this net and give a general idea of the HF conditions met during the sessions.
-
QNI Graph.
In each month column of this bar graph, the number of participants, Net Control Station (NCS) and participating stations (QNI's), is shown:
- Per week: first week at bottom of column up to fourth/fifth week of the month;
- Per month: red on white background on top of column.
The bottom row in the table shows:
- Total number of sessions;
- Total number of participants;
- Average number of participants per session.
Click on a month name at the top of the graph to jump to the "QNI table" listing all participants per session.
-
QNI Table.
This table lists all net participants per month, week and session. NCS's are marked with "*". "Visitors" are not listed unless they took part in a session. Click on a day date in red to jump to the corresponding report table(s) if available.
-
Report Tables.
These tables compile reception reports received from net participants or listeners (SWL's). NCS's are marked with "*". Each row of a table recapitulates the reports given to the participants by the station listed in the "De" column. Call signs in italics on a different background color in "De" columns indicate reception reports. Reports expressed in decibels, +10dB for instance, must be understood as values over S9.

- De K9TJL: Not to bad of a session on the bands tonight folks. We welcome back Jerry/Ken as we haven't hrd them in a while welcome guys. One drive by on 40M W0ECS after QNF. I think he was looking for Steve.
- De AA7FV: Power at first 95 watts, switching to kW later during the nets. After 40m QNF, W0ECS 569 calling Steve. A little more QRN on 80m than on 40m, but both bands were equally good tonight. A good net night. Sorry I lost KN2G.
- De AC8LJ: Listening in on both 40m & 80m this evening - the only station I could hear well on both bands was Darrel (599 on 40m, 569 on 80m). Couldn't hear TJ at all on either band...

- De AA7FV: Rob, that's amazing. You were 579 on 40m here with your 2 or 3 watts, so if you'd had the rig up to 100 watts you'd have been a good 599 in AZ. A good net night.

- De K9TJL: Warm weather, brought out another good evening of music and sounds. I would welcome KB3VQU Cliff in the great state of Delaware tonight. Prior today I had invited Cliff and his swiper to attend one of our picking and a grinning fest. He show up. Great job all. Cliff loves his swiper, so I look forward and love to hear his swiper again on SSN.

Notes:
- De K9TJL: Nice turn out again this session. In case you wondering why I sent so fast tonight on net preamble, when I have six or more check in-s, I have to speed the net up as there are people whom check in and are on limited time thus I am pushing a lil in order we get done in thirty minutes or so. Jim K3CKT QNI but was weak, Antenna problems.

Notes:
- De K9TJL: 7044 kHz at net time QRM. Sig. flutter/echo, seems flare of some sort.
- De AA7FV: 0000 UTC 7044 kHz. No SSN heard, until (0010 UTC) TJ came on freq to tell me the net had started up 1 kHz, because of QRM. On both bands, very rapid and very deep flutter QSB on all signals. Even though signals were relatively strong, the flutter made copying CW difficult. I've never heard such flutter on 40m before, although it sounded like the auroral flutter I've heard sometimes on 20m. I presume this is because of the solar outburst that was announced for this week by the Space Weather folks. Very strange.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Today was a good day for me. I've been suffering from power line QRN for the last 6 months. This had been giving me an S7 - S8 noise level on 20m and 17m, although the RX noise blanker can cut it down a lot. Unfortunately my rhombic is beaming right at the source of noise. After many complaints from me, this afternoon the power company came and fixed the problem within 5 minutes. It was some arcing to the ground wire at the top of a 14 kV power pole, about a quarter-mile from me. Now cured!

No net.
- De K9TJL: 7044 kHz, 0100z - 0115z: No check ins. 3568 kHz, 0115z - 0130z: No check ins.
- De AA7FV: Very sorry, I'll miss this evening's net. The local radio club is meeting again, at exactly that time. However, I do wish all SSN participants a Very Happy Christmas, and I look forward to seeing all you after Christmas, if not before on the Intercontinental SSN.
- De W1SFR: Never heard the bands so bad as the last couple of days. Hell, I went out to check my antenna to see if it was still up, HiHi. Hope it's better next week. Happy holidays folks if I don't get a chance to hear you on the radio.

Thursday, December 28, 2017.
40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0120 UTC, 7044 kHz.
Notes:
- De AA7FV: Started at 95 watts on both bands, then QRO to kW (...) In case I don't see you in the Intercontinental Net on Sunday, a very Happy New Year everyone.
- De W1SFR: 40 has been a hot mess lately. If I put my best QRP RX hat on, I could hear TJ very faintly... maybe 50% copy but the QSB and QRN were pretty substantial. Fair copy from Darrel on 40 and much better on 80. TJ Nil on 80 so thanks for the QSP Darrel. HNY to you all and I'll see you on the flip side.
- De F5LAW: Very poor conditions, I didn't call, just RX. Surprisingly, path to AZ wasn't so bad, almost solid copy on AA7FV at times.
- De KA5TJS: I did not try this week but the bands have been crazy here lately. Hope to hear you guys on Sunday but it will be very cold here.
