Net Archives 2022.
US 40 m (80/30 m) Net.
Section under development.
To move to a net archive page, use the list boxes in the upper-right corner. Select year, net and click on the "Go" button.
NB: Pre-2012 net data are not processed. The Region 3 Net started on February 5, 2017 and ended in 2020.
The following graph and tables provide an overview of the variations in the level of activity for this net and give a general idea of the HF conditions met during the sessions.
-
QNI Graph.
In each month column of this bar graph, the number of participants, Net Control Station (NCS) and participating stations (QNI's), is shown:
- Per week: first week at bottom of column up to fourth/fifth week of the month;
- Per month: red on white background on top of column.
The bottom row in the table shows:
- Total number of sessions;
- Total number of participants;
- Average number of participants per session.
Click on a month name at the top of the graph to jump to the "QNI table" listing all participants per session.
-
QNI Table.
This table lists all net participants per month, week and session. NCS's are marked with "*". "Visitors" are not listed unless they took part in a session. Click on a day date in red to jump to the corresponding report table(s) if available.
-
Report Tables.
These tables compile reception reports received from net participants or listeners (SWL's). NCS's are marked with "*". Each row of a table recapitulates the reports given to the participants by the station listed in the "De" column. Call signs in italics on a different background color in "De" columns indicate reception reports. Reports expressed in decibels, +10dB for instance, must be understood as values over S9.

Notes:
- De KA5TJS: Real rough nite here. QSB was very bad. Thanks for the relays Darrel.
- De AA7FV: Very high background noise on 40m tonight, but the stations I could hear were armchair copy. I had to QRT early tonight for my local radio club monthly meeting, so didn't try 80m. Thanks, Allen, fora great NCS job under difficult band conditions.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Conditions from Arizona were quite good this evening. Steve had the worst weather tonight (storm, snow, low temperatures and hoping the power stays up) but John had had sleet and his temperature was only 20 F, rather low for TX.
- De KA5TJS: I did not make it last night. To darn cold in the garage and takes to long to heat it up. Next week I hope.

Thursday, February 10, 2022.
40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0135 UTC, 7044 kHz.
Notes:
- De AA7FV: Some of the best conditions for 40 + 80 meters that I can remember for the SSN.
- De KT5LA: That is what I would call a spectacular net! Conditions were outstanding on both 40 m and 80, Though I see from Steve's comment that it appears the West Coast got the best conditions. Those are the reports from my station directly. I was also listening on the Utah based SDR and everyone was 589 to 599. It was Roy that mentioned that he'd never heard condition so good on the sideswiper net, and I have to agree.
- De W1SFR: Guys, VERY heavy QRN on 7044 here. No way I could check in on this QRG tonight.

Heavy snow tomorrow. Sheesh and Bill says it's 75 and flowers are out there! ! Thanks fellas for checking in and bearing with my not-so-great sigs from VT.

- De AA7FV: 30m was a little better than 40m, but both bands were good into Arizona.
- De K6GVG: Same condition for me on 30 m with Jay, just too close! But eastern stations greatly improved later on this band. Bill, in particular, peaked at S9. And Darrel is always S9 regardless of band.
- De KT5LA: 30 meters sounded great tonight, unless I was looking for a station nearby. I couldn't hear Roy just down the coast from me. But he was booming in on 40!
- De WA4FAT: An excellent Net on 30 Meters but the web SDR definitely helped with the west coast stations.

The band seemed in pretty good shape but perhaps I was just too late. I hated to leave W4BWS without inviting him to the SSN. He said he used a sideswiper occasionally, so perhaps he'll join us one evening.
- De AA7FV: Heavy QRN on both bands. Relatively poor conditions into Arizona tonight. Before Bill called, I heard K6GVG on 7044.0 kHz, with QRM.

Lightning within a few miles appeared too, so I decided to turn off the rig and ground the antenna (via a well insulated knife switch outside the shack.) I QSO'd with Darrell before the start of the 30 m net, and for the start, (and for most of it) He was a solid 59 signal. Notes:
- De AA7FV: Two busy sessions tonight. QRN from lightning here in AZ, but good copy on most stations. Overall, for me 40m was slightly better than 30m.
- De WA4FAT: Roy's Hustler antenna continues to amaze, and Jay's maritime operation makes me envious. I could copy everyone over the air, but the Northern Utah Web SDR provided significant relief for Jay and TJ (sure nice to hear K9TJL after a long absence).
- De W1SFR: QRN, QSB bad here so couldn’t check in. Hope bands are better next time.

- De WA4FAT: Once again I was in the sweet spot geographically as all stations had fine signals on both 30 and 40 meters. I had the Northern Utah Web SDR fired up just in case but didn't need to use it at all.
- De KT5LA: Excellent signals from Utah SDR on both bands from all participants. 30m was better for me here... very good copy on almost all stations here in So. CA. On 40, while strong on the SDR, I heard only AA7FV and K6GVG well (S9 both) and WA4FAT just barely. On 30m, Bill was doing well here at S7-8.

- De WA4FAT: Tonight's sessions of the Sideswiper Net were as pleasant and enjoyable as any I can remember. Conditions on both 30 and 40 Meters were above average and every participant could hear the others well - no QSPs needed. And due to the modest turnout, each Net check-in had several opportunities to do what we all love - take pleasure in our sideswipers.
- De AA7FV: A superb net. Conditions were the best I can remember, on both bands.
- De KA5TJS: Great net tonight! Conditions improved to CA as the sun went down on 30. Real good signals on 40. The extended time was great.
- De K6GVG: I have never been able to copy all stations before on either 30 or 40 m. Alas, the 6-ft long Hustler mobile antennas don't hear that well, especially from their balcony-railing mount on the even further "left coast" side of this concrete/steel condo. So, surprising and pleasing to here all!

- De WA4FAT: Well, 40 is a tad long for me now at 0100Z, perfect for the more distant stations but no copy from about 500 miles in. And 80 was not long enough as I couldn't copy a peep from Vermont or California. Darrel, AA7FV, makes his own propagation with that Rhombic and I could probably copy him on any band :-) All in all another fine session of the SSN but a bit more challenging. I relied on the Northern Utah Web SDR to copy Allen on 40 and Jay on 80, but it was no help with Steve. Thanks so much to Darrel for the QSPs.
- De WA3RSR: I wanted to join tonight. I am back in my Maryland QTH after driving from Texas. But I could barely hear anyone. Darrell was about 559, but everyone else was in the noise. I thought there was a solar storm or something was wrong with my antenna until I called CQ on 7052 and the RBN gave me decent spots from all over Europe. I guess the band was long in Maryland. - De WA4FAT: A most interesting Net tonight. 7044 was busy and so Allen moved down about half a kHz. Perhaps some of the regular crew never heard us there as the turnout was sparse. 40 Meters dropped out like the flipping of a switch, no time even for QSB, just strong one second and nada the next.
- De WX7V: Thanks Bill for the QSP as I could not hear Allen KA5TJS.
- De W1SFR: No joy here last night. Sorry guys.
- De AA7FV: Unavailable.

- De WX7V: Happy thanksgiving! I was looking forward to both nets tonight.
- De N9EE: Good nets tonight. Copied all on 7.044, but on 3568 copied AA7FV & WA4FAT, but WX7V very weak. I am sure I was to Chris also. Here QRP with my X6100, see attached photo.

Notes:
- De WA4FAT: Conditions on 40 were tremendous with the strongest signals I've ever heard from our left coast stations. 2 recordings from the 40 Meter session: This recording was made locally, using the functionality found in my IC-7300. And this one is from the Northern Utah Web SDR.
- De KT5LA: Wonderful conditions on 40...didn't even need a web SDR!

Notes:
- De KT5LA: 0130 UTC 3567 kHz There was enormous digital QRM of some sort on and around 3568 kHz. I came on frequency and heard Darrell begin a call, only to stop when a very strong digital signal came on. It nearly popped my eardrums in So. CA, and I could only imagine how loud it was in Arizona, particularly through a rhombic!
- De KA5TJS: Digi Dorks were on 3.568 so we had to move down a little. May have kept a few away.
- De WA4FAT: Propagation was expectedly less stellar on 80 but still more than adequate.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Thanks everyone for another great net night, to complete a year of great SSN nights. I look forward to the coming year of SSN. Please keep safe, and all the best for 2023.
- De KT5LA: Condx on 40 seemed to favor us all by region: west was well heard here, southeast and east, not so much. Happy New Year everyone!
- De WA4FAT: Another excellent end-of-the-year session of the SSN, superbly directed by AA7FV, NCS. From my family to yours, all the best in 2023 with an extra helping of peace, love, and happiness. 73, y'all!
- De KA5TJS: Well I got checked in anyway! Thunderstorms and lightning most of the night and had to unplug after the start of the net. Signals were good with QRN here. 5 inches in the rain gauge this morning. Thanks Darrel for the QNN and everyone have a Happy New Year.
